AI essay checker with a report you can keep
Upload an essay or paste it in to see how it reads to an AI detector before anyone else runs it through one. Download the result as a PDF or share it as a link.

Check your essay before you hand it in
Many schools and universities now run submissions through an AI detector. If you wrote your essay yourself, it is worth knowing in advance whether any of it reads as machine-written, because detectors do flag honest work. Formal, tidy academic prose is exactly the style they find hardest to tell apart from AI output.
Upload the same file you plan to submit. The file is read in your browser and only its text is sent for analysis.
What to do if your own essay is flagged
First, look at which sentences were highlighted and what was noticed in them. A run of similar-length sentences, a stock transition at the start of every paragraph, or a phrase like “plays a vital role” can each tip a passage over. Rewriting those in a more direct, specific voice is good essay practice anyway.
Second, keep your evidence. Outlines, research notes, earlier drafts and the version history in Google Docs or Word show how the essay came together. If a teacher questions your work, that record matters far more than a score from any tool, this one included.
Why a report helps
The PDF report records the score, the verdict, the confidence level and the highlighted text on the date you ran the check. It will not prove authorship, and we would not want anyone to treat it that way, but it does show that you checked your work in good faith and what the result was.
How the AI detector works
An AI detector is a classifier that estimates the probability that text was written by a language model rather than a person. It works by measuring statistical patterns in the writing, not by tracing where the text came from.
Give it something to read
Paste text, drop in a PDF or Word file, or enter the address of a web page. Documents are opened in your browser, so the file itself never leaves your device.
The text is scored
A detection model trained on human writing and on output from AI systems rates the whole text and each sentence for how closely it matches machine writing.
You see the evidence
The report marks every sentence, lists the writing patterns found, and tells you how much confidence the result deserves.
How accurate is AI detection, honestly?
AI detection is accurate enough to raise a question, but not accurate enough to prove an answer. The best detectors catch most unedited AI text with few false alarms, but accuracy drops sharply when text is paraphrased, lightly edited, or written by a non-native English speaker.
Key takeaways
- Accuracy claims of 99% come from the vendors’ own benchmarks.
- One 2026 test of five detectors put the top two at 72% and 74% overall accuracy.
- False positives fall hardest on non-native English writers.
- A score is a probability estimate, not evidence of misconduct.
Reading the score
| Score | Verdict |
|---|---|
| 0–14 | Human-writtenLittle or nothing resembles AI writing. |
| 15–34 | Likely human-writtenMostly reads as a person, with a few AI-like passages. |
| 35–69 | UncertainMixed signals. Not evidence either way. |
| 70–89 | Likely AI-generatedMostly reads as AI, possibly edited by a person. |
| 90–100 | AI-generatedStrong, consistent AI signals throughout. |
A score in the Uncertain range is reported as Mixed when the sentences back that up, with at least 25% of the words in AI-like sentences and at least 25% in human-like ones.
Supported languages: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Dutch, Polish, Romanian, Italian and Simplified Chinese.
AI Essay Checker: common questions
Will this give the same result as the detector my school uses?
Not necessarily. Detectors are built by different companies on different models, and they often disagree, particularly on borderline text. A clean result here does not guarantee a clean result elsewhere.
My essay is longer than the limit. What happens?
The first part of the essay is analysed and the report says how much was covered. To check the rest, paste the remaining sections in separately.
Does using a grammar checker make my essay look like AI?
Light corrections rarely matter. Tools that rewrite whole sentences for you can, because the rewritten sentences are, in effect, AI-written.
I write in English as a second language. Should I worry?
Be aware of it. Studies have found that detectors flag non-native English writing more often. If that happens to you, the confidence note and your own drafts are the things to point to.
