Our client is the leading digital signature provider in Indonesia. They are among the few companies with the Subordinate status certification by the Ministry of Communication and Information. This provides a binding legal status to documents signed and verified by our client.
Our client is relatively new to the field but has already built their reputation and is the default choice for businesses and individuals. They have acquired millions of customers by ensuring security, privacy, convenience, and speed. The company has also paid attention to client protection and reduced the risk of fraud, making it a reliable partner for clients needing digital certificate and signature services.
The Challenge
As a fast-growing tech company, they required an easy way to onboard new users to their platform. To meet compliance standards, they had to verify the citizen ID for every new user.
The challenge was that users had to upload a photo of their physical ID for the KYC requirements. Photos were quite challenging to process using traditional OCR, as they had different backgrounds and lighting. It would take them ~3 minutes to process each document manually, resulting in a slow-turnaround time for verification and losing customers. They needed to reduce time while having competitive pricing significantly.
They also focus on privacy and compliance with data protection standards. Their Privacy-centric approach required them to have an on-premises solution located in the government office.
Digital Atlas was looking for an on-prem solution with high accuracy, fast processing time, and low cost.
Our onboarding process would be slow and cumbersome due to manual ID verification. It was a major roadblock for our growth, causing us to lose customers.
The Solution
The manual process was infeasible for them due to slow turnaround time and high cost. As a new entrant, they had to provide a better user experience than competitors, which turned them towards an OCR solution.
Traditional OCR tools failed at segregating between the ID and junk data in the background of an image. This resulted in low accuracy and required manual reprocessing of documents. This made them towards Nanonets AI solution.
Nanonets AI has been trained with millions of documents and can accurately segregate data. They could train an AI model to identify the ID card accurately and then pull the required data.
Nanonets works with distributors all over the world to enable on-premises solutions. In partnership with PT Sai, we implemented an on-premises solution that complied with the data protection standards. This enabled them to simplify their onboarding process and launch the product.
